MAPSTATION

Since 2000, Mapstation is an imprint of Düsseldorf based Stefan Schneider, also known from bands like To Roccoco Rot or Kreidler. He founded Mapstation to have some more repetitive instrumentals to his Electro DJ sets. Basslines were the main theme of the Mapstation sound, rolled by an arpeggiator of an analogue synthesizer, that expanded a whole new sound for the next years. Stefan Schneider created an experimental but sorted sound spectre, added influences from art to travels. Dub and Dance references were emphasized through his collaborations with people like Ras Donovan or on tours with Vladislav Delay. Since then, Mapstation have released four full length albums for labels like Staubgold and ~scape that follow the path from the first album and show the progressive development of the Mapstation sound. Plus a variety of 7"es, 12"es for Earsugar, Combination and many more. Various collaborations with other artists are planned for 2007 and 2008 until the next album is coming out.
